Who We Are

Worksop Priory, Church of Our Lady and St. Cuthbert is a Forward in Faith Parish under the Episcopal care of the Bishop of Beverley. There has been a Christian witness and presence in this place since the founding of the church in 1103.

Our vision is that ‘the vibrant Christian ethos of our Church should continue to be evident in every area of our lives and that the faith at Worksop Priory School should be ‘an integral foundation on which we build our lives.’

As a church we hold fast to the Bible and the teachings of Jesus. We believe:
That God exists in three persons, but as one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (the Trinity)
In the virgin birth
In the sinful state of man
In the need for man to be redeemed from sin
In the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ for our atonement (forgiveness and reconciliation)
In baptism …
In the gifts and ministries of the Holy Spirit given to individuals, and to the church. These ministries include apostles, prophets, teachers and pastors
That the Bible is the inspired Word of God
In the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ
That the church is made up of all, regardless of denomination, nationality or colour, who have truly repented and have made Jesus Christ Lord of their lives.

We seek to witness to the saving love of Christ through Worship, the Sacraments and a loving care for all God’s people in this place.
